PAST

In 1894, Rabbi Leopold Cohn founded this ministry in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York  Soon after he accepted Yeshua (Jesus) as his Messiah.  He began the mission by holding meetings in a store that was actually a renovated horse stable.

The foundation of his work for the Lord was grounded in Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

PRESENT

Our Ministries
It is our specific ministry to preach the Gospel of Yeshua the Messiah, and to show our Lord's love to the Jewish people throughout the world.  Chosen People Ministries continues to evangelize and disciple Jewish people around the world through the most effective and creative ways possible.

Our representatives:

• plant congregations
• hold fellowship meetings, Bible studies and worship services
• do one-on-one evangelistic work

One priority, through effective evangelism, is to establish indigenous churches.  By discipling new believers (both Jewish and Gentile), our efforts will lead to further Jewish evangelism.  These new Bible-centred congregations are designed to have a special sensitivity to reaching and ministering to Jewish people, without excluding others who need the Gospel.

By helping them relate to the Jewish people, we greatly increase the effective witness of the local church.  Special presentations, such as Messiah in the Passover, inform Christians of the significance of studying the Bible from a Jewish perspective.  Our seminars on how to share the Gospel with Jewish people help bridge the gap that exists between the church and the Jewish community.

Our monthly periodical, The Chosen People, keeps its readers abreast of the world of Jewish missions.  It includes articles on Jewish festivals and customs, testimonies of Jewish believers and other pertinent information that helps them witness effectively in their local Jewish communities and pray effectively for "the peace of Jerusalem."

During the Jewish holidays, we utilize diverse forms of media to further outreach to both the Jewish and Christian communities.  For example, we air television programs that provide a witness to the Jewish community as well as insight and instruction to Christians.

Topics include Passover and the Day of Atonement.

Chosen People Ministries also provides ministry to children and teenagers: all our congregations have Bible classes for various age groups, we have an annual summer camp program and a teen summer missions outreach.  As well, we hold an annual Messianic
Bible conference in Canada: Haverim-Friends.

We have exciting volunteer programs available for Christian laity.  One is our Summer Training and Evangelism Program (STEP) which, through specialized classes, prepares each member to share his faith with Jewish people.  Teams have ministered in such places as New York, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Paris, Marseilles and Berlin.  Another is a young adult study tour/summer missions program in Israel called eXperience Israel.

We are also using the great witnessing opportunities that have become available in recent years through the Internet.

Our Beliefs
All workers and Board members of Chosen People Ministries must subscribe to doctrines fundamental to the faith.  We declare our belief in the following:

• The Divine inspiration, infallibility, and authority of both the Old and New Testaments.
• The triune God and the Deity of the Lord Jesus (Yeshua) as the only begotten Son of God and the promised Messiah.
• Messiah's sacrificial blood atonement at Calvary, His bodily resurrection from the dead, and His second coming.
• The necessity of presenting the Gospel to the Jewish people.

FUTURE

1994 marked CPM's centennial year and a time to celebrate God's blessings over our first 100 years.  During this millennium and by God's grace, we will establish dynamic evangelism outreaches in the key countries that are home to more than 94% of all Jewish people.

Our Promise to You
As gifts are received from our supporters, we will strive to be faithful stewards of, not only our finances, but also with the time and talents God has given us.  Gifts indicated for a particular missionary or evangelistic endeavour will be allocated as requested.

Supporters of our ministry receive our monthly publication, Chosen People.   They also receive a monthly prayer letter stating our needs and offering an opportunity to contribute to a particular worker or project.
